Sky Bet League One: Leyton Orient 5 Notts County 1

Kevin Lisbie’s first half double helped fire Leyton Orient to their seventh straight league win with a resounding 5-1 home victory over basement boys Notts County, to move five points clear at the top of the League One table.

The win still leaves the O’s with the only 100 per cent record out of the 92 professional clubs in England.

Lisbie was on target after 28 minutes when heading home Lloyd James’ free-kick before shooting into an empty net in first half stoppage time for his sixth league goal of the season.

And Dean Cox made sure when driving an effort across goal past Bartosz Bialkowski 11 minutes into the second half, though Danny Haynes’ header pulled one back for the visitors.

But substitutes Shaun Batt and Jayden Stockley scored in the final 10 minutes to complete a routine win for the O’s.

Russell Slade kept the same side which won 3-2 late on against Port Vale on Saturday, but it was a nervy start from the O’s.

Twice they allowed Jack Grealish time on the ball in the opening 10 minutes, but on both occasions his effort on goal was off target, firstly fluffing an effort behind before team-mate Marcus Haber deflected the other wide of the target.

Orient’s first real attack saw Bialkowski watch a chipped Romain Vincelot delivery on to the roof of the net, but the O’s began to turn the screw.

David Mooney’s fierce 25-yard effort was tipped over by a busy Bialkowski on the 15 minute mark, but with their next chance the hosts took the lead.

Notts County’s Enda Stevens went in the book for a late tackle on Moses Odubajo, and from the resultant free-kick James floated the ball in and Lisbie was on hand to head into the top corner.

It was no more than they deserved and though Notts County spent some time in Orient half after the opener they never troubled Jamie Jones in the O’s goal.

And in the first minute of stoppage time Mooney was in the clear before playing in an unmarked Cox who saw his effort blocked by Bialkowski.

But the rebound fell to Lisbie who made no mistake for his eighth goal in nine league and cup appearances.

A double substitution at the start of the second half did little to help Chris Kiwomya’s visitors and Orient put the game to bed when Cox drove the ball from just outside the area past Bialkowski.

Danny Haynes was Notts County’s last lifeline off the bench and he pulled one back on 71 minutes when he headed home a ball in from the left, with nothing Jones could do in the Orient goal.

But there was no way back for the visitors when Batt got in on the act, slotting low across goal with 10 minutes remaining, and Bournemouth loanee Jayden Stockley scored his first goal for the club when unmarked following a through ball and the 19-year-old produced a cool, calm finish after 85 minutes to send the O’s fans home delighted.
