A passenger plane was forced to abandon a landing after being dangerously battered by strong winds.
The Alitalia aircraft was touching down at City Airport when gales caused it to wobble unpredictably, at times skidding along on one wheel.
Its pilot then decided to scotch the landing and head instead for the sanctuary of the skies.
Monday’s scare is one of the many effects being felt across the borough as the south of the UK is hammered by Storm Imogen.
