The rise of knife and gun crime will be discussed during a youth conference at Stratford Circus.

Led by a steering group of young people from youth clubs and projects across the borough, Street Life 2: The Journey Begins will include a Question Time-style panel with police, elected representatives and families affected by knife crime.

There will also be a multi-media performance of personal stories told through drama, poetry and song, with young people then encouraged to devise their own solutions to youth crime and anti-social behaviour.

The event, which will take place on April 8 from 2.30 to 5.30pm, has been organised by Community Links.

Richard Rowe, youth operations manager, said: “Street Life aims to equip young people with the relevant skills to ensure they are part of the consultation process, can make informed choices and socially educate other young people about the effects of knife and gun crime in their own communities.”

Young people who wish to attend the conference should call Richard on 07785 612781 or email richard.rowe@community-links.org
