One of the brightest business talents operating in the borough is set to speak at the must-see ceremony of the year.

Claire Cockerton, founder and chief executive of Entiq – which is behind Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park technology hub Here East – will be the keynote speaker at the Newham Business Awards on October 13.

She said: “I am looking forward to being a part of this story and to celebrating the incredible talent we have in the area. Newham should be incredibly proud of its role as a host borough of the 2012 Olympics.

“That has led to an influx of investment and redevelopment over the past five years with more than 7,500 new businesses opening in the area.”

She added: “I’m sure this growth will continue and the area will become a wellspring of creativity and inspiration for both London and the nation as a whole.”

Also attending are Mayor Sir Robin Wales, East Ham MP Stephen Timms and council chief Kim Bromley-Derry.
