Olympian Jo Pavey joined families for a jog around Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park this morning to make one month to go until the Simplyhealth Great Newham London Run.

The former European 10,000m champion spoke to parents about the importance of setting a good example and is encouraging more people to put on their trainers and get fit as a family.

“Parents have the ability to make such a difference in not just their children’s lives but theirs as well,” she said.

“If your children see you running, they will find it a natural part of their life.”

Thousands of runners are set to take to the park on Sunday, July 2, with both the 10km race and 2km family event finishing in the London Stadium.

Included in that number are more than 1,000 Newham residents who have secured a free place through Newham Council.

There are still spaces in both events available. To sign up, visit
