Jeremy Corbyn is hoping to galvanise his followers at a Labour leadership rally in the borough this evening.
The Labour leader is set to appear at the Royal Regency in Manor Park at 7pm. The venue can accommodate up to 1000 people.
He will be on stage with MP Diane Abbott along with Newham speakers including artist, activist and poet, Zita Holbourne.
Mr Corbyn tweeted earlier: “Join myself and @HackneyAbbott at our #LabourLeadership rally in Newham tonight at 7pm.”
His appearance has been marred by the #traingate storm currently engulfing social media.
Virgin Media released a train CCTV picture this afternoon refuting the overcrowding claims made by the politician when he travelled on one of their trains a week ago.
Mr Corbyn’s team has stood by its original claims.
Tonight’s event will be chaired by Marshajane Thompson from the Jeremy for Labour campaign. Entry is ticketed only.
