Chefs trained by Jamie Oliver will provide the food for a Christmas meal to raise money for the Newham Recorder and Community Links Toy Appeal.

Jamie’s Kitchen in Stratford have signed up again for this year’s appeal meal on December 12, which is taking bookings now.

The meal will include soup of the day or melon as a starter and a main course of turkey with sausages, ham, roast potatoes, sprouts and carrots, parsnips and stuffing.

The meal will end with mince pies, custard and trifle or fruit salad.

All of this costs just £9 per head or £65 for a table of eight. Vegetarian alternatives are available.

There will also be live music from D’Ukes Ukulele Band who will be playing traditional Christmas songs.

Kevin Jenkins OBE, co-founder of Community Links, said: “We thank Jamie’s Kitchen and Dukes for giving their time and expertise to help the appeal again this year.

“This year our annual lunch is truly exceptional value – brilliant chefs, live entertainment, a relaxed seasonal atmosphere and the opportunity to help local disadvantaged children enjoy their Christmas too.

He added: “Every penny raised goes directly to purchase gifts to fill Christmas morning stockings for the areas most disadvantaged children who are experiencing the ravages of poverty on a daily basis.”

Lunch is served at Community Links, 105 Barking Road, E16, from noon to 3pm; last orders at 2.15pm.
