Tickets have sold out for a concert featuring some of the biggest names in the music industry set to close the Invictus Games.
Artists taking to the stage at Queen Elizabeth Park on Sunday, September 14, will include the Foo Fighters, the Kaiser Chiefs, Ellie Goulding and James Blunt.
The five-hour live show will bring down the curtain on four days of adapted sports at former Olympic venues across the park with medals also being handed out to winners and runners-up.
Tickets, priced at £49 per person, sold out in under an hour.
Serving captain Prince Harry, who has championed the Games, said the closing ceremony would be a “celebration of everything the competitors will have achieved” during the Games.
In a nod to the numbers of soldiers killed in recent conflicts, he added: “For those who didn’t make it back from operations, this is also for you.”
Also set to perform at the concert are The Vamps, Rizzle Kicks, Diversity, Ryan Adams and the Military Wives Choir.
Headliners the Foo fighters, said playing the show was the “perfect way” to return to the UK after a two year absence. “It is truly an honour to come play for these incredible men and women. Can’t wait to do our thing for you,” said the band.
James Blunt, himself a former captain in the British Army, said he too was “honoured” to be performing, adding: “The men and women of the service community deserve all of our support.”
