A woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was stabbed to death in Canning Town on Monday.

The unnamed woman remains in custody following her arrest yesterday in connection with the fatal stabbing of Pietro Sanna - an Italian national who lived in the UK - in Ravenscroft Close.

Police attended the scene at about 11.40pm on Monday night where the 23-year-old was pronounced dead.

A special post-mortem examination will take place today at East Ham Mortuary.

Enquiries are ongoing and members of the homicide team are still investigating.

Leading investigator Det Ch Insp Gary Holmes said: “Whilst an arrest has been made, the investigation is still in its early stages and we would urge members of the public with information to come forward.

“I would appeal for all witnesses and those with information concerning this fatal attack to contact the incident room as soon as possible.”
