A man has died at East Ham station after being hit by a train.
Police officers, fire fighters and ambulance crews were called to station, in High Street North, at 11.20am but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
British Transport Police (BTP) officer are working to identify the man and inform his family.
A spokesman for BTP said: “This incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
The station and the street are currently closed.
There are currently no Hammersmith and City and District lines running between Barking and Plaistow as a result.
Student Samuel Neve, 22, of South Esk Road, Forest Gate said he could see four ambulances and six police cars.
“It’s all getting a bit manic, I’ve never seen anything like it,” he said.
“People are honking their horns, no-one’s going anywhere.”
Clive Power from Manor Park said: “ There are lots of people in fancy uniforms and some kind of special response unit is here.
“People are not too scared, just waiting around for some kind of guidance – there must be about 50 to100 of us here.
“The station is shut but there is one train on the platform still.”
