There are currently no Hammersmith and City and District lines running between Barking and Plaistow as a result.

Student Samuel Neve, 22, of South Esk Road, Forest Gate said he could see four ambulances and six police cars.

“It’s all getting a bit manic, I’ve never seen anything like it,” he said.

“People are honking their horns, no-one’s going anywhere.”

“People are not too scared, just waiting around for some kind of guidance – there must be about 50 to100 of us here.

“The station is shut but there is one train on the platform still.”
