First floor damaged in fire

A house caught fire in Plaistow yesterday afternoon, damaging around half of the first floor.

Four engines were called to the terraced house on Stirling Road at 3.19pm yesterday and twenty firefighters tackled the blaze, bringing it under control by 4.08pm.

The residents had evacuated when the firefighters arrived and no one was hurt.

Crews from Stratford and Plaistow stations attended the scene and the cause is under investigation.
