A hotel manager who helped to provide shelter to stranded airport passengers has been shortlisted for an award.
Yash Taneja, who works at Crowne Plaza London Docklands, has been named as one of five finalists in the Catey Awards’ revenue manager of the year category.
He has been recognised for increasing revenue at the Royal Docks hotel and for mentoring other staff.
Yash’s ability to react quickly in any situation was also praised - including when when passengers from nearby London City Airport were stranded due to the ‘beast from the East’ earlier this year.
He worked with the airport’s ground crew to provide a place to stay for those in need of shelter when their flights were cancelled due to the bad weather.
Yash said: “I never expected to be nominated for such a prestigious award, so to say I’m thrilled to be shortlisted is an understatement.”
The winner will be announced at a ceremony at Park Plaza Westminster Bridge in November.
