Seventy volunteer “homes makers” are getting ready to help thousands of new residents move into East Village, the former site of the Olympic village.

Triathlon Homes, owner of the 1,379 homes to rent and buy at below market rates, has tasked the ‘Homes Makers’ with continuing last year’s Olympic spirit by being a friendly face for London’s newest community when they move in.

The volunteers will be showing new residents to East Village around the area, the wider Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park as well as helping them with practical questions such as how to work the boiler, where you park your bike and how to reach the local resident services team.

A spokeswoman for Triathlon Homes said: “There continues to be high demand for the apartments at East Village, with Triathlon Homes seeing over 8,000 potential residents register over the past few months. Shared Ownership options are still available from just £67,500 for a 25% share, meaning an applicant needs a deposit of only £6,750, while hundreds of Intermediate Rent homes are available from £210 per week, which is a 30% reduction on average market rate rents. Although the majority of the 675 social rented homes have been pre-allocated, there will continue to be some more promoted through the choice based lettings system over the next few weeks.”
