Thousands of Hindus in Forest Gate celebrated this year’s Diwali festival with a temple ceremony attended by Stephen Timms MP.
The SKS Swaminarayan Temple in Shaftesbury Road marked the “festival of lights” on November 3 and the start of the Hindu new year on November 4.
Cllr Mukesh Patel was also present for the Laxmi Poojan ceremony on Diwali day.
Kishor Varsani, a spokesperson for the temple, said: “The SKS Swaminarayan Temple would like to wish everyone a very Happy Diwali, and a joyous and prosperous new year!”
The temple recently celebrated its 25th silver jubilee with an anniversary event.
