Four fire engines and 21 fire crew were called to Abbey Mills Pumping Station in Stratford

An electrical fire which damaged 10 metres of “high voltage cables” at a sewage pumping station has been put out by firefighters.

Fire crews from four stations attended the underground sewer chamber fire in Abbey Road, Stratford after being called at 11.55am.

The blaze was brought under control by 1.36pm

The cause of the fire is still unknown.
