Plans for more than 800 homes, along with office and retail units, which promises to open up the Albert Basin in the Royal Docks have been put forward.

The proposals for Ivax Quays on Gallions Road, Beckton, London follows the demolition of former buildings and structures on the site, apart from the Royal Docks Pumphouse, other dockside heritage features and flood defence infrastructure.

The development, which in future will be known as Great Eastern Docks, will open up the dockside, including the pump house, to the public with a new footbridge and has potential for a water taxi point.

The 819 residential units will include 563 homes to be rented or sold on the open market, 109 socalled affordable homes for rent and 147 homes for shared ownership.

The site also features up to 3,617 sq.m of office space, 1,353 sq.m of retail units, 703 sq.m of community space, along with vehicle and cycle parking.

The developers, Nottinghill Housing, are also promising to improve the Thames path, the local road network, and surrounding landscape, along with bringing in an employment strategy targeting start up businesses and provide funding towards a new primary school.
