More than 12,500 people flocked to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in its first week of opening to enjoy its parkland areas and facilities.
The free-entry North Park, which contains the Tumbling Bay playground and Timber Lodge community centre, has attracted thousands of children, families and cyclists since it opened on 27 July.
Dennis Hone, Chief Executive of the London Legacy Development Corporation, said: “We’re on track to make Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park a must visit destination for everyone, but most importantly we want the community to reap the benefits.
“It’s great that so many local residents and visitors have come out already and I look forward to welcoming thousands more over the coming months ahead of the Park opening in full next spring.”
So far over 650,000 people have attended the Olympic Park’s first summer of music concerts, sporting events, and the Ride London cycling race that started in the park.
