East Ham MP Stephen Timms witnessed the signing of a partnership between Sainsbury’s and Newham Stroke Club.
It means the Stroke Club will be the local charity partner for Sainsbury’s until May 31 next year 2013. The partnership should help The Stroke Club with fundraising, publicity and the recruitment of volunteers.
Mr Timms said: “I am delighted that Newham’s Stroke Club has become Sainsbury’s local charity of the year. The Stroke Club has been carrying out terrific work in Newham for many years now; supporting victims of strokes and their families.
“ I hope that this partnership will serve to advance this very important work; raising its profile and, indeed, much needed funds. I would like to thank Abdul Shakoor for his work with the Stroke Club and Sainsbury’s for a great initiative.”
