Young patients at Newham University Hospital were given an early Christmas treat when Cinderella and co visited their ward.

The pantomime, organised by Starlight Children’s Foundation, had the children laughing, singing and cheering along as it called in to the Glen Road, Plaistow hospital during an eight week tour.

Hamera Elahi, specialist play worker, said: “We were delighted to welcome Starlight – the children really enjoyed the show. This was a chance for our patients to get excited about Christmas, have a break from their treatment and forget about their illness for a short while.”

Sue Wildman, head of children’s services at Starlight, added: “Starlight’s Christmas pantomime is a fabulous way of spreading some much-needed festive cheer to hospitalised children and their families over the Christmas period. We hope that this performance of Cinderella was just what the doctor ordered.
