More babies were born in Newham than in any other London borough in 2014.
Last year, 6,023 babies were born to mothers living in the borough, according to data released by the Office of National Statistics.
This translated into 76.6 live births per 1,000 women aged 15 to 44 – the second highest rate in the capital, behind neighbouring Barking and Dagenham.
Nationally, only six other regions had a higher birth rate than Newham, with the region of Forest Heath in Suffolk ranking top with 82.7 births per 1,000 women.
The City of London had the lowest birthrate in the capital, with 37.3 births per 1,000 women.
Rates were high across east London, with Waltham Forest and Redbridge having the next highest rates at 74.2 and 72.0 births per 1,000 women respectively.
