A paediatrician from Newham has turned her attention to TV presenting.

Guddi Singh, who works at West Ham Lane’s Health Trust, is leading a three-part BBC programme about the first two years of a baby’s life.

Babies: Their Wonderful World, which premiered on November 26, explores the science and psychology of infants as they undergo their first milestones.

Dr Singh said: “The series presents findings from one of the biggest studies on baby development ever done, and includes the latest breakthroughs in understanding of early brain development across the field.

“It was a huge project, drawing in hundreds of babies as well as scientists from all over the world.”

She said the biggest challenge was recreating the scientific research to make it fit for the screen. But this is where her role as a clinician, where she has to communicate science to the public, came in useful.
