The Macmillan information bus will visit Newham next week to offer free advice and information on cancer.
A team of cancer information specialists will be on board to answer questions and inform residents of local cancer services as part of Lung Cancer Awareness Month.
The mobile service will be parked in Queen’s Market, Green Street, from 10am to 4pm on Tuesday, November 7.
Lung cancer is common in both men and women, with around 46,000 cases diagnosed each year.
While smoking is the main cause of the condition, non-smokers can get it too. Nearly half of people diagnosed with lung cancer are aged 75 or over.
“Knowing what changes to look for and when to see your doctor could make a real difference,” said cancer information specialist Tracy Neill.
Commons symptoms include chest pain, feeling out of breath for no reason and coughing up blood.
