Across London, 1,864 patients were treated in 2016, with almost a third of those - 606- being involved in road traffic collisions.

There were 500 calls to people who had either been stabbed or shot, and 417 to those who had fallen from a height, the charity revealed.

The borough that received the most call-outs was Westminster, with 123 patients treated, while Hounslow was visited by one of the charity’s two helicopters just 18 times.

Jonathan Jenkins, CEO of London’s Air Ambulance, said: “The charity is here to serve everyone in London at all times.
