PROVING that age is no barrier to having fun, these two ladies took advantage of a day of activities designed to get the over 50s out of their homes.

Dorne Orford, 77 and Jeane Canning , 83, were among those who turned out at Newham Leisure Centre for the Spots v Stripes event organised by Cadbury in partnership with Age Concern. The event is part of a two-year campaign being run by the chocolate maker with the aim of helping millions of people play thousands of games to get them in the mood for the Olympic Games.

The national campaign was launched in August and includes Cadbury taking Spots v Stripes on a tour of the country with a Games Crew.

Dorne, from Vanburgh Close, West Beckton, and Jeanne, from Bendish Road, East Ham, were joined by Councillor Neil Wilson, Executive Member for Equalities and Social Inclusion at the Plaistow leisure centre.

The one-off event also coincided with International Day of Older Persons on October 1.
