PUBLISHED: 15:55 25 February 2012 | UPDATED: 10:13 27 February 2012

East Ham Leisure Centre has had a makeover to incorporate a new Fitness Zone with state-of-the-art technology and better access for disabled people.

The new gym extension at the Barking Road facility features Technogym’s Vario equipment including the Excite Vario, a combined stepper and cross-trainer; the Excite Crossover, similar to skating or skiing; IFI Treadmills, for disabled access through the use of colour contrasts and adaptations; a Dedicated Fitness Suite, an intimate surrounding for a more focused workout; and other benefits such as Sky Sports.

The staff celebrated with customers old and new on Sunday by hosting an open day with free classes and by giving away guest passes for first time users.
