Patients at Newham University Hospital’s Tayberry and Thistle wards enjoyed a Diamond Jubilee party lunch.
Bunting, bowler hats, a visit from two East End Pearly Queens and a carboard cutout of the Queen helped create a celebratory atmosphere along with a singalong and music.
Arvind Jethwa, a 64-year-old patient at the event, said: “Everyone here is enjoying this and I hope the Queen has a great week herself after all these years of running our country and being a great mum to her lovely children.
“She is a very honest woman and a great lady. I am also thinking of Prince Charles - he’s just one year younger than me.”
Jackie O’Sullivan, manager of voluntary services at the hospital, in Glen Road, wanted to thank all the volunteers, entertainers and patients who made the event such a success.
