Converting the former Greenhill Centre into a community gym has been given a renewed go-ahead.
Councillors decided that although lots of gyms are available in Manor Park, they should stand by their commitment to open one.
They pledged to spend £850,000 on kitting out the gym, which should be open by May, at a cabinet meeting held on Thursday last week. The gym will initially be open for a year to assess its usage.
Estimated use of the gym has been reduced from a forecasted 250,000 to 300,000 to just 60,000 due to competition.
