Newham City Farm held their first Harvest celebration last weekend just as we entered the autumn season.
Around 150 families and friends turned up for a concert among the animals on the farm in Beckton to listen to the 14-strong, critically-acclaimed The Vivace Choir who sand for free alongside volunteers from the in-house choir at Community Links, a charity based in Canning Town.
Visitors enjoyed classic, modern, and traditional music against the backdrop of the charity’s farm at dusk while proceeds from tickets sales raised 350 to maintain the attraction.
Kevin Jenkins, co-founder of Community Links, said: “A truly iconic evening, our heartfelt appreciation and thanks to Vivace for making it all possible and to everyone who came and supported the evening.”
The Harvest celebration was such a success that Kevin is considering making the event an annual fixture in the farm’s diary.
