Make sure elderly and vulnerable next door keep warm and have all they need
Do you know any elderly people in your area?
If so, get involved with the Newham Recorder’s Good Neighbours Campaign.
The winter months can be a difficult period for the elderly, especially those who are living alone.
NHS figures show people over the age of 65 are more likely to suffer from cold-related illnesses.
We are asking you to check on your elderly neighbours to make sure that they are warm enough and have everything they need.
You could run an errand for them, sit down and have a cup of tea, or simply share a good old chat with someone who is a bit lonely.
Whatever it is you can do to help, be a good neighbour and give them a call.
Doing so could brighten up their winter, as well as yours.
The Recorder will be running the Good Neighbours Campaign over the next month in the lead-up to Christmas, and we are looking for readers to send us their stories of goodwill which we will publish on our pages.
Send your heart-warming stories, along with photographs and contact details, to email@example.com.
