Don’t stop believing, that was the message from TV stars and judges Graham Norton and Tamzin Outhwaite to Plaistow-based singing group Cadence and all the young performers who competed in the Jack Petchey Glee Club Challenge Grand Final at the Savoy Theatre.

Almost 200 youngsters, aged between 12 and 16, put their raw talent on the line to which TV presenter Graham Norton said: “I found them amazing, self- possessed and confident in a way that I could never have been at their age.”

As for the competition third place went to Cadence, based at the Swift Centre on Barking Road. They are a group of eight 16 to 19 year-olds from the youth club who only came together earlier this year to complete in the competition.

The winning group was from Friern Barnet School, north-west London with a gospel choir from the Ilford Ursuline School as runners-up.
