Genesis Housing Association has now become the new landlord for more than 130 homes in Newham and across East London.

The move comes after East Thames Group decided to transfer a portion of its temporary accommodation to Genesis. It should mean that residents will continue to have a stable household and not face the prospect of eviction or being re-housed in a different part of London.

Having worked with the residents to agree new leases on the properties, Genesis will now work with the residents to oversee the management of their properties from collecting rent and organising repairs to helping the residents with any problems they may face with their homes. With over 30 years of experience as one of the most diverse social landlords in the country, Genesis believes residents will benefit from its management expertise.

Feargal Ward, Divisional Director at Genesis, said: “This recent acquisition highlights Genesis’ reputation as a leading provider of temporary accommodation. While many social housing providers are rethinking their temporary housing provision due to the current economy, Genesis is continuing to expand and improve its services to residents to ensure that those in need of housing receive the support they deserve.”
