Adam Patel will be trading east London for west London in September, taking up a place at Hammersmith’s prestigious Latymer Upper School

He was among Forest Gate Community School’s top performing pupils, achieving 11A*s and two A.

“I needed three A*s and three As to get in,” he said.

“I didn’t expect anything like this.”

He added that he “could never have done so well” without the support of his teachers at the Forest Lane school.

The 16-year-old added: “I know going to a school like Latymer is going to be a huge jump for me, but I’m looking forward to it.”

He will study maths, further maths, chemistry and physics and hopes to go on to read engineering at Oxford or Cambridge.

Rania Ramli will be attending the City of London School after winning a scholarship.

The assistant head girl at Sarah Bonnell School achieved 10A*s and one A in her exams.

“I didn’t expect it,” the 16-year-old said. “I’m just so happy.”

She will be taking on the challenge of five A-levels at the all-girls school, studying maths, further maths, economics, English literature and history.

Like Adam, she has Oxbridge dreams, hoping to study politics, philosophy and economics at one of the prestigious universities.

Pelumi Agbedejobi, 16, who got four A*s, six As, one B and one C, has a scholarship for Wellington College in Berkshire.

“I’m over the moon with my results,” said Pelumi, who will study physics, chemistry, maths and economics for AS Level.

The Eastlea Community School student was also a Newham youth councillor who made a bid to be the borough’s next young mayor.

“If you want to make the world a better place, you should go out and change it yourself,” he said.
