It wasn’t only Henman Hill that saw tennis fans gather on a mound of grass, Pimms in hand, to watch the men’s final on Sunday.
East Village held its very own Wimbledon Tennis Championships-themed fair, complete with giant screen, scoreboard and tennis games, in celebration of arguably the sport’s greatest slam.
More than 1,200 residents and locals turned out, with Get Living London CEO Neil Young hailing the event a “great success”.
He said: “Whether people wanted to sit back and watch the Wimbledon men’s final, tuck into the best of British food and drink supplied by some of our East Village retailers or try playing tennis with a giant racquet – there was something for all ages to enjoy.”
Visitors were able to get re-enact a winning moment, just like Novak Djokovic, by posing in the vintage Wimbledon photo booth and enjoyed games from an obstacle course to a relay race.
