Shoppers and the borough’s residents are invited to a party to mark the 10th birthday of Gallions Reach Shopping Park.
Newham Mayor Sir Robin Wales will be attending a special ceremony at 2pm on Saturday. He will cut the birtday cake together with Catherine Goddard, centre manager to celebrate the occasion. They will be joined by staff, some of whom have been at Gallions Reach shopping centre in Beckton since it was opened a decade ago.
Circus stilt walkers, fashions shows and pampering treatments at Boots and Superdrug will be avalible for the adults. Children can look forward to face painting, balloon modelling and arts and crafts during the day.
The shopping centre is built on the site of a former gas works site and was opened on September 2 2003. It was a success from the beginning and sparked interest from among the high street retailers, many of whom are still trading there now.
