Funding boost for five youth projects in Newham from the Mayor of London

Five youth projects in Newham have been given a cash boost today from the London Mayor.
Free to be Kids, Khulisa, StreetGames, Irene Taylor Trust and Protection Approaches will receive grants from Sadiq Khan as part of second round of his Young Londoners Fund.
The cash will be used by the organisations to keep young people off the streets and deter them from criminality and anti-social behaviour.
Sadiq said: “The projects we’ve invested in are already making a difference to young people in London and this next phase of the £45m programme, backed up by £2.6m of City Hall investment, will help provide valuable life opportunities for almost 10,000 young Londoners.”
Unmesh Desai, Labour Assembly member for City and East, said: “It is integral that we adequately invest in our young people, and offer positive diversions away from crime and gang exploitation for the most vulnerable.
“Whilst we are seeing stringent action from the mayor to put in place a robust early intervention strategy to stem the rise in violent crime.”
