The Central line is now running a full service after commuters endured nearly three days of chaos.

Services on the line returned to normal this morning after the replacement of faulty power supply equipment, causing extensive delays and reduced services since Monday.

After engineers discovered a fault in complex equipment at a London Underground (LU) Substation, the unit supplying eletricity to the track had to be completely replaced, with LU engineers working around the clock to get services back to normal as soon as possible.

Peter McNaught, operations director for the line, apologised for the disruption.

He added: “This was a complicated problem that required specialist equipment and our engineers have worked to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. We’ve now got a full service running on the line, and I thank customers for their patience over the last few days.”
