Silverstone may have been and gone, but motor racing fans have another chance to catch Formula 1 driver Sebastian Vettel in action this year – and it will be much closer to home.

The four-time world champion has signed up for the Race of Champions, which is being held in the Olympic Stadium on November 20 and 21.

He made his debut in the competition, which pits drivers from different disciplines against each other, in 2007.

He partnered fellow German Michael Schumacher – now recovering from a skiing accident – to glory in the Nations Cup for six consecutive years.

The Ferrari driver said: “It is going to be very exciting to race cars in the Stadium that hosted the 2012 London Olympic Games.

“Of course I’ll miss having Michael as my team-mate this time but I’ll try my best to bring the Nations Cup trophy back to Germany and to win my first individual title.

“That is one trophy that is still missing from my collection.”

Drivers already confirmed for the competition include current champion David Coulthard, nine-time Le Mans winner Tom Kristensen and the current World Rallycross champion Petter Solberg.
