A former White House advisor has been appointed chief operating officer of Stratford technology campus Here East.

Mike Magan was an official at the US president’s office and worked as George W Bush’s special assistant.

He’ll be taking over from Andrew Roughan, who left his role as chief operating officer last month.

Here East is a workspace for digital and creative companies, and currently houses offices for BT Sport and the University of Loughborough’s London campus.

Mike said: “I look forward to getting involved in the Here East community to encourage the further divergence of creativity and technology.

“This position provides the opportunity to work with one of the fastest growing clusters of tech and creative businesses in London.”

Here East’s chief executive, Gavin Poole, said: “Mike has a great wealth of experience working in the business, tech and startup community on an international level, as well as bringing unique public sector experience to the job.”
