St Bonaventure’s student Zain Qureshi has landed the prestigious Jack Petchey award this month.

The 12-year-old was rewarded with the prize for impressing his history and geography teacher, Mr Bynoth, with his care for other students and in particular one who is visually impaired.

The teacher noticed him explaining concepts to his class-mate who uses an iPad and sometimes needs a little extra help and said he was touched by his kindness.

Di Halliwell, from St Bonaventure’s, said: “Zain is proving to be an excellent young man who is always willing to help and offer his support when needed.

“This award validates his excellent start to Year 8 at St Bon’s.”

Zain is planning to spend his award money by taking a group of boys to Up at the O2 attraction.
