A popular Forest Gate restaurant has reached the regional finals of a competition which aims to find the best south Asian eatery in the country.

Aromas Tandoori Restaurant, in Forest Lane, is taking part in the national Tiffin Cup competition after being nominated by West Ham MP, Lyn Brown.

The restaurant has already reached the regional finals and will continue competing ahead of the grand final in October.

Lyn Brown said: “Although I don’t get to go to Aromas as often as I’d like, I do order a number of takeaways to save myself cooking when I have friends and colleagues around for an evening.

“I have been to one of their special evenings where I tasted lots of exciting new food I hadn’t tried before and isn’t on their menu.

“I am glad that Aromas has got through to the regional finals of this prestigious competition and I am hopeful that they will go even further.”

As part of the event, local politicians are asked to nominate their favourite south Asian restaurant - those chosen are then entered into the competition.

Chair of the Tiffin Club, Keith Vaz MP added: “After the overwhelming success of last year’s competition we are looking forward to another chance to sample some of the best offerings of Indian food in Britain.

“I wish the Aromas Tandoori the best of luck in the competition.”

The Grand Final of the Tiffin Cup 2015 is to be held in the House of Commons on October 27.
