Five people escape Forest Gate house fire

The cause of a house fire which was tackled by 20 firefighters and officers in Forest Gate is under investigation.

Four adults and one child had to be treated for smoke inhalation by paramedics after escaping from the property in Upton Park Road.

Half of the ground floor and part of the first floor of the property were damaged by the fire last Friday.

Four fire engines from Stratford, Plaistow, East Ham and Leytonstone were called to the scene at 11.48pm and the fire was brought under control at 12.42am.
