First phase of plans for 259 homes in Olympic Park move a step closer

The first phase of Chobham Manor, which will see the development of 259 homes being built, has taken another step forward.
Following the recent approval of the Zonal Masterplan, the London Legacy Development Corporation and Chobham Manor LLP have now submitted a Reserved Matters Planning Application for phase one of the Chobham Manor development.
Once approved, this first phase of development will see 259 homes built and include a mixture of houses, apartments and green spaces to go on sale in 2014 with residents moving in by late 2015. Twenty-eight per cent of these 259 homes will be affordable homes including social rented, affordable rented and intermediate housing.
Chobham Manor forms part of the Legacy Communities Scheme, the Legacy Corporation’s Park-wide masterplan for five new neighbourhoods, with up to 6,800 new homes, to be built on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
Located between East Village and Lee Valley VeloPark in the north of the Park, Chobham Manor will see the development of up to 850 homes by Chobham Manor LLP, a joint venture between leading national home builder Taylor Wimpey and L&Q. Seventy-five per cent of the homes will be much-needed family housing with three or more bedrooms, helping to combat a real shortage of larger housing types in London.
The new neighbourhood also includes three large, distinct areas of green open space that will run through the heart of the neighbourhood and a series of smaller public open spaces that will provide places to relax and play.
Dennis Hone, Chief Executive, London Legacy Development Corporation, said: “Chobham Manor will be the first new neighbourhood to be constructed at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and is another important step in our legacy delivery, with the north of the Park already open and the south of the Park opening in spring 2014.”
Jerome Geoghegan, spokesman for Chobham Manor LLP, said: “The application is a major step forward for the Chobham Manor project, and we are excited that, subject to approval, we will be on target to begin constructing the first new homes in 2014.”
