The first business to move into the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park has opened its UK headquarter on the former Games site.
Cofely, which specialises in energy and environmental efficiency, has moved into a retained building adjacent to the Kings Yard Energy Centre.
Kings Yard is one of two energy centres serving the Olympic Park and Stratford City District Energy Scheme, which is being operated by Cofely under a 40 year agreement.
Originally constructed for confectionery manufacture it was the only building to be retained during the redevelopment of the park site.
During the London Games the building was used as an operational base before its most recent conversion to office space.
Cofely’s chief executive Colin Hale said: “Cofely has had a presence on the site since we first started constructing the energy centre and we are delighted to have now made this fascinating and historical building our new UK headquarters. It also places us at the heart of one of the many exciting district energy schemes we are developing across London and the UK.”
Cofely is part of GDF SUEZ, a French multinational electric utility company.
