Three bidders have been shortlisted to build two new neighbourhoods in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

The three candidates - Grainger; Mace, Argent and Peabody; and Places for People and Balfour Beatty - were chosen after six firms submitted outline proposals earlier this year.

They will now formalise their proposals before submission in September.

The London Legacy Development Corporation will then select a preferred bidder to work on the East Wick and Sweetwater developments, which will create up to 1,500 homes.

Rosanna Lawes, executive director of development, said: “The standard and quality of the Outline Solutions received was extremely high and LLDC has undertaken a thorough evaluation process to arrive at the shortlist.

“The shortlisted three bidders have the potential to create vibrant new neighbourhoods connected to existing communities in Hackney Wick and Fish Island.

“We are creating a new part of the city and these neighbourhoods will be at its heart.”

East Wick will be located in the north west of the park and feature up to 870 new townhouses, studio apartments and flats.

Sweetwater will have up to 650 new homes in the south west of the park near the Copper Box Arena and include flats and family homes with private gardens.

Each development will also have a new primary school and two new nurseries as well as retail, employment and community space.

The neighbourhoods are expected to be completed by 2023.
