Firefighters investigate chemical smell at East Ham house

Residents evacuated an East Ham house following the smell of chemicals yesterday.

Firefighters were called to investigate the smell at a house in Marlow Road at about 11.50am.

Two fire engines from East Ham and Plaistow fire stations attended the incident and shut down the gas supply before ventilating the property.

Five people left the premises before the arrival of the Brigade and were treated at the scene by the London Ambulance Service.

The incident was dealt with by about 12.40pm.
