CARMEN VALINO ALL RIGHTS - on shift
So here are my predictions for the three upcoming elections.
It might not be what you want to hear, and may be controversial, and please do not think this in any way reflects how I will be voting.
With the London mayoral election, I think it will be a very close call, but I suspect that Goldsmith will win.
Sadly most people aren’t too focussed on the issues and will go for the personalities. And it seems pretty clear that Sadiq has more personality than Zac. However, I fear, yet hope not, that some level of Islamophobia will affect the results.
This is why Sadiq is focussing so heavily on security issues to demonstrate his democratic credentials. 12.5 per cent of London residents are Muslim whereas 87.5pc are not, and yes, it is likely that the majority of Muslim voters will be keen to support one of their co-religionists, but it doesn’t take a huge proportion of the non Muslims who don’t want a Muslim mayor, at this time, to vote for Zac to cancel out Sadiq’s advantage.
Of course they’ll never tell that to the pollsters, but we will all know why if Zac does win, whilst the polls show Sadiq ahead.
The EU Referendum is close again, but we will vote for Brexit.
Whenever I speak to people the ones with any passion want out, the ones who want to stay, are in grudgingly. Ukip will get their four million voters to vote, the majority of the grassroots Conservative party want out and most Labour voters are unconcerned.
The SNP (Scottish National Party) are conflicted as a vote to leave means a second chance at a Scottish independence referendum.
And the Lib Dems are pretty irrelevant. Sorry.
With the US Elections. Donald Trump will clinch it. He has been totally outrageous to date – racist, sexist and plain stupid – but the American’s love him.
When he becomes the Republican candidate, you will see his rhetoric tone down as his advisers will ensure he looks and, more importantly, sounds, more presidential.
Perhaps Boris shouldn’t have given up his US Citizenship – President Boris could have beaten them all. More from Lance
