Families gathered for one of the busiest weekends of the year at The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park for the Go East Fest last weekend.
The London Legacy Development Corporation hosted the weekend packed full of free activities and live performances from groups like Newham Music Trust, Hackney based Arcola Theatre and the legacy’s own performance groups.
Adriana Marques, Head of Arts and Culture of London Legacy, said: “Go East Fest at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park this weekend was a wonderful celebration of the creativity in east London.
“It included an amazing giant snail in Tumbling Bay Playground by Hackney Wick based artists Darling & Edge that taught children about biodiversity, to music workshops by the Newham Music Trust, a giant puppet opera by Arcola Theatre from Dalston and a vibrant new take on folk dance by East London Dance.”
The festival also saw people try out tight rope walking, swinging on a trapeze, juggling and a mesmerizing final performance through the help of NoFitState circus who were supported by Stratford Circus and the Foundation for Future London.
Adriana added: “The weekend was all about getting people of all ages taking part in something creative.”
