Residents showed off their artistic skills when they helped paint a mural in Forest Gate.

Families recently gathered to take part in the Big Paint project which saw a mural design drawn up by local artist, James Valentine, painted onto hoardings at the Forest Gate Community Garden on September 12 and 13.

Isobel Matheson, from the Forest Gate Community Garden, said: “The design was painted up, following the transfer to the hoardings by a group of volunteers, including local artists, two weeks ago.”

She added: “The event was overseen and supervised by the artist, James Valentine. We believe this is the largest work of public art in Newham.”

The garden opened to the public in June.
