Week of free activities in Newham's parks kicks off today

Today marks the beginning of Love Parks Week in Newham.
To celebrate, there’ll be a range of free events across the borough, including yoga, tai chi, parkour and plogging – a bizarre activity in which people jog while picking up litter.
The week is being organised by Keep Britain Tidy, an environmental charity which works to reduce littering, waste and improve public spaces.
Daniel Burford, from leisure trust, Active Newham, said: “Love Parks Week is a fantastic initiative that encourages communities to get outside and make the most of local parks and green spaces.
“In Newham we’re lucky to have some fantastic parks. This year, the Love Parks Week activities are a great way to celebrate the green spaces across the borough, have some fun and help keep them tidy.”
The activites are being run by ParkLives, a programme run in conjunction with councils to encourage people to use public green spaces.
