A professor at the University of East London has been awarded a prestigious national teaching fellowship.

Professor Rachel Mulvey, Associate Dean of UEL’s School of Psychology, has received a National Teaching Fellowship from the Higher Education Academy (HEA).

An expert in career guidance and chartered Psychologist, Rachel is one of only 55 academics from across England, Wales and Northern Ireland to achieve the fellowship this year. Each Fellow will receive a £10,000 award to support their professional development, presented at a glittering ceremony in central London.

The Fellowships recognise outstanding individual contributions to the student learning experience, and Rachel is the fifth UEL staff member to receive the accolade.

She said: “The standard of Fellows is extremely high and it is an honour to be included among them. I look forward to hearing how they are developing their roles, and sharing my own work and ideas.

“In an ever-changing academic environment, it is essential we look at how best we engage with our students to ensure they reach their full potential. It’s great to see how highly the HEA values teaching and learning, and to receive this award which allows me to continue to play a part in this.”
